The Great Pumpkin

This card was made for two challenges: Double Trouble Paper Challenge #95 in which Thing 1 asks that we use "Fall Images", Thing 2 asks that we include Washi tape, and Thing 3 asks that we share our card with our partner for this challenge Cupcake Inspirations whose theme is "Halloween Fun".

I really didn't want to make a jack-o-lantern, but did like the idea of a pumpkin patch. Of course, if you have a pumpkin patch, just like Linus you surely will expect "The Great Pumpkin" to appear on Halloween!

I stamped the pumpkin vine using Stampin' Up! (SU) Old Olive ink and one of the flourishes from the retired SU "Flowering Flourishes" stamp set. I wanted the blossoms to be orange like a real pumpkin vine, so I stamped the flourish again on SU Grapefruit Grove card stock using SU Pumpkin Pie ink. I then fussy cut out the three flowers and attached them over the top of the green flowers using Mini Glue Dots.

The pumpkin was stamped using the retired SU "Carved & Candlelit" stamp set with SU Pumpkin Pie ink onto thick white cardstock. I did repeat stamping on the same cardstock to imprint a faint image of the pumpkin so I could cut out two to glue to the back of the darker stamped image. This would allow the pumpkin to stand out with extra dimension on the card front. To give the pumpkin a shiny look, I covered it with Ranger Glossy Accents. I also added a small dot of Glossy Accents to the center of each of the three blossoms.

While those were drying, I searched on the Internet to find a cute "Peanuts" image of Linus telling Charlie Brown about "The Great Pumpkin". Recall that Linus waits in his local pumpkin patch each Halloween hoping to see it rise above the patch. He once told Charlie Brown that he would quit believing in the Great Pumpkin when Charlie Brown quit believing in Santa Clause... that's just how committed Linus was to his belief!

I printed out the image on copy paper, colored it with Copic Markers, then fussy cut it out. I used Recollections permanent tape runner to glue the image onto the front of the card. For copy paper, you typically don't use liquid glue because it will pucker the paper. To meet Thing 2's part of the challenge I used a strip of black Washi tape with black cats to balance the card.

The white panel is 5"x 3-3/4", it is matted with a 5-1/4"x 4" piece of SU Grapefruit Grove cardstock, and mounted on an A2 sized SU Old Olive card base.

I am rating the difficulty of this card as a "2" out of a possible "5".
