Celebrate With Abandon

This card was inspired by Just Add Ink's Sketch Challenge #507. The Design Team cards were so gorgeous, that I just had to try and make a card that really stood out!

The main panel is a piece of Yupo paper, which is actually a plastic paper that doesn't allow inks to soak in. Jennifer McQuire has a great tutorial on how to do this super easy technique . All you need to do is blow the ink around on an impermeable surface with a drinking straw and drops of rubbing alcohol! I used just three Ranger inks to create all the gorgeous colors!!!

The mat for the alcohol ink panel is Stampin' Up! (SU) Island Indigo. The shiny blue panel is a foil cardstock by SU called Blueberry Bushel. The gold foil starburst was trimmed down to remove the outside loops so the shape looked more like a paint splat than a flower.

I created the "celebrate" sentiment by die cutting gold cardstock, then die cutting two more words from SU Island Indigo and gluing the three words together with the gold word on top. This adds height and drama against such a busy background.

Finally, I mounted the completed front panel on a 5"x 7" white cardbase.

The card could be used for just about anything you'd want to celebrate including birthdays, anniversaries, or even Christmas! I am rating the difficulty of this card as a "2" out of a possible "5". Although the steps are not difficult, you do have to allow the alcohol inks to dry completely before handling the panel.
