This card was inspired by Tuesday Morning Sketches #545 which was a sketch, and required a tall skinny card 4"x8-1/2".When I think of tall and skinny, I think of the earth stretching up to the sky... so the Stampin' Up! (SU) "Lift Me Up" balloon stamp set with matching dies came to mind immediately!
I wanted to emphasize the Earth's surface with respect to the sky, so chose to use the pattern paper from SU's "Carried Away" Designer Series Paper. You can't get much higher than the clouds in the sky, so chose to use the vellum center piece under the blue frame to separate the fields below from the clouds above. I thought for such a "light" subject as hot air balloons, a solid blue panel in the middle would be too heavy, so chose to make it a frame instead that encapsulated the sentiment.
The two balloons were stamped with SU Calypso Coral and Peekaboo Peach to match the colors in the pattern paper at the bottom. The sentiment is from the same stamp set.
I like the way the card turned out with all the elements emphasizing the distance between me and the lady I plan to send the card to, but how I wanted her to feel happy that I was thinking of her.
I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "2" out of a possible "5".
