Cruise on Your Birthday

This card was made for two partnering challenges this month:

Double Trouble Challenge #24 - "Use Metallic" with Brown Sugar "Transportation"
- and -

Brown Sugar Challenge #288 Transportation Theme

Grab Our Badge

There is a LOT going on in these two challenges!!! For Double Trouble (DT), Thing 1 "Trouble Maker's" challenge was to include something metallic on your card (which I did with the gold anchor rope on the scrapbook paper, and the gold foil mat for the front birthday sentiment).

The second part of the DT challenge, Thing 3 "Twisted Sister's" was to include your favorite mode of transportation when you vacation (I love cruising, so have a cruise ship on the inside, plus the anchor and ropes on the card front).

The third part of the DT challenge was Thing 2 "Double Dare's" to also meet the requirements of the Brown Sugar challenge, which was to include something related to "transportation" (which I did by including the cruise ship as my favorite vacation mode of transportaton).

It was fun to come up with a card that had so many elements, and of course the inside sentiment is hilarious! The cruise ship and birthday sentiment stamps are Stampin' Up! 1998 and 1993 retired sets respectively. I had seen a similar birthday cruise sentiment somewhere on Pinterest, so from memory I used Microsoft Word on my PC to print out the sayings so they fit inside my circles. Though honestly, if I had a friend who I knew liked to cruise, I would invite them along (on their dime, of course!).

I am rating the difficulty of this card as a "3" out of a possible "5". Since I used a die that does the actual main card cutting (including the circles), the hard part was fitting the pattern paper on the front and inside the card so I maintained all the matting borders. I had to cut and trim multiple times to get a good fit. With only one sheet of my paper (that I bought 10 years ago!) I didn't have any room for error, so I took my time and trimmed just a bit between fittings onto the card base.  You can also create a similar card without the specialized die. Here is a link to a tutorial for a "flip flop card.

Hope you enjoy this fun card!
